ACID Compliance
Atomic, Consistent, Isolated, Durable
What does ACID Compliance mean?
A database transaction is ACID Compliant when it is:
- Atomic - The All or Nothing principle - either it all completes or none of it does (it rolls back)
- Consistent - All statements run at the same time so that they operate on the same state of the data
- Isolated - Changes to the data are not visible outside of the transaction - until the transaction is committed
- Durable - Once the transaction is complete, the changes are permanent
