# ACID Compliance

Atomic, Consistent, Isolated, Durable

## What does **ACID Compliance** mean?

A database transaction is **ACID Compliant** when it is:

* **Atomic** - The All or Nothing principle - either it all completes or none of it does (it rolls back)
* **Consistent** - All statements run at the same time so that they operate on the same state of the data
* **Isolated** - Changes to the data are not visible outside of the transaction - until the transaction is committed
* **Durable** - Once the transaction is complete, the changes are permanent
