How much space an item asks for when its container sizes to content.

## What is an **intrinsic contribution**?

An **intrinsic contribution** is how much space an item asks for when its container is sizing itself around its contents, as grid tracks and table columns do.

```css
.table-layout { display: grid; grid-template-columns: auto auto; }   /* columns sized from each item's contribution */
```
