# Shrink-to-fit sizing

As wide as the content needs, up to the space available.

## What is **shrink-to-fit** sizing?

**Shrink-to-fit** sizing makes a box as wide as its content needs, but no wider than the space available, as floats and absolutely positioned boxes do.

```css
.tooltip { position: absolute; }   /* shrink-to-fit: as wide as its text, up to the container */
```
